Challenge
An organisation with 21 offices had its own file and print servers in every office, and more than 50 servers on Windows Server 2012 R2 nearing end of support.
What I did
- Migrated the file servers of 21 offices (several TB) to Azure Files with File Sync.
- Moved servers to Azure across multiple landing zones.
- Replaced 21 print servers with cloud printing.
- Introduced PIM and Conditional Access.
Result
50+ Windows Server 2012 R2 servers phased out before end of support, and no more local file and print servers per office.
